It’s difficult to say which species is the most threatened by climate change, but it is likely those that are a part of the most delicate ecosystems, and have the smallest initial populations. The ecosystem supported on the Arctic sea ice is probably the most fragile, and thus the most vulnerable to climate change. Animals that depend on Arctic sea ice include seals and walruses, several species of birds, and polar bears. Polar bears are perhaps the most threatened, since they live exclusively on the polar ice. Their population is already in serious decline, and it will likely continue to be so as sea ice continues to disapear.
