The Truckee River Project is a nine-year, eight-and-a-half-mile restoration project to restore the Truckee River and its ecosystem. In the past 100 years, the lower Truckee River has lost approximately 90 percent of its forest and as much as 70 percent of its bird population. Native fish have also been depleted. The restoration project aims to create new river meanders, new wetlands, new river miles, and a large amount of revegetation.
