The name derives from energy-zero homes, homes which create the same amount of energy that they use and are carbon neutral. Triple zero homes take it to the next step: they create so much energy and use so little that they are actually able to give electricity back to their local grid. To lower energy use, these homes are built with excellent insulation and windows that help the sun provide warmth. The buildings themselves are built with as few materials as possible, using innovative methods like blowing bubbles into concrete so less is used. The materials they do use are recycled and non-toxic.
Werner Sobek is the archetect behind triple zero homes, all of which are currently located in Germany and France.
