    The quagga is beleived to have been evolved somewhere between 120,000 and 290,000 years ago. It is a subspecies of the zebra and is completely extinct. The quagga was hunted to extinction and it is beleived that the last wild quagga was shot in the late 1870s, while the last specimen in captivity, a mare, died on August 12, 1883.
