A threatened habitat is a habitat that is deteriorating so quickly that it is in danger of disappearing off the face of the earth altogether. Also, when a living area for certain species starts to disappear, it could lead to destruction of that species. For example, healthy forests provide habitats for an extraordinary amount of species. So, forests consist of a wide variety of plants and animals. When the forests face extreme stress, individual species and their habitats become threatened. This endangers the health of the forest itself. These plants, animals, and forests are essential components to maintaining biological diversity.
