What temperature do I set my thermostat at so my pipes don’t freeze?

    As an renter, in the lease an agreement is usually written that the thermostat should not reach below 50 degrees. This insures that pipes will not freeze and thaw resulting in damage to the pipes. If you are planning on leaving your residence in the cold months, keep the thermostat above 50 and open any cabinets or doors that have pipes behind them.
