Tattoo ink is primarily made of pigments derived metal salts, minerals, organic pigments, vegetable pigments, and plastic pigments. These are all dissolved in a carrier solution.
Tattoo ink is made up of mineral pigments, metal pigments, vegetable pigments or other organic pigments. These come from metals, flowers and other industrial chemicals and compounds. Tattoo ink is not actually made the same way ink in pens are created, they are actually quite different.
Tattoo ink consists of two main components, a carrier and a pigment. The carrier’s job is to keep the pigment evenly flowing, prevent clumping, protect against pathogens, and aid in application. The safest and most common ingredients include ethyl alcohol, purified water, witch hazel, Lysterine, propylene glycol, and glycerine. Sometimes denatured alcohols, aldehydes, detergents, and other toxic substances are used.
