About 1 in every 4000 baby sea turtles will survive to adulthood, according to Kenneth Lohmann, Ph.D, a biology professor at the University of North Carolina.

There is a wide range of rates of death of sea turtles.  On the WWF website they estimate 1 in 1,000 turtles survive to adulthood.  Sea turtles have an estimated life expectancy of around 80 years.  Despite the varying estimates in the numbers of sea turtles surviving to adulthood, it is well agreed upon that the vast majority never make it past their first year.
