Polystyrene foam is the chemical compound that makes up Stryofoam. It is made from a petroleum product called styrene, which is refined into a clear molten mass of polystyrene. This process is called polymerization, and the product becomes a hard plastic when left to cool.
Styrofoam is made of polystyrene. It starts as small beads with hydrocarbon that is an expanding agent. They are heated and then expand within a mold – creating styrofoam.
