    The Golden Orb Web spider (Nephila maculata) makes the strongest web in the world.  The web can last several years and is a golden silk color.

    Yes, the Golden Orb Web spider makes the strongest spider web. Their webs can ultimately end up growing to be 6m x 2m (about 18′ x 6′). These webs can also last up to seven years. The silk from these spiders are strong enough to catch small birds. Any spider web at all is incredibly strong, and currently the strongest material known to man. The strength of an average spider web (not just those made by the Golden Orb) are five times as strong as steel while remaining more elastic than Kevlar.
