Costa Rica’s plan to become carbon neutral relies heavily on individuals and businesses taking advantage of government incentives aimed at promoting renewable energy sources and forest conservation. One such incentive is the ability for companies to earn a “C-neutral” certification by agreeing to pay the government to offset their carbon emissions. The money the government gets from these businesses can then be put into forest conversation and green energy research.
