Considering the Amazon is home to over 2000 species of freshwater fish, this is a somewhat difficult question to answer, and something of a subjective one. However, investigation of the river’s depths has turned up a very strong contender for the title: electric fish that feed solely on the tails of other electric fish, including those of their own species. Fortunately this is not as alarming a habit as it may sound, as electric fish can rapidly regenerate body parts, thus making their tails a renewable resource!
