One of the most interesting was the formation of cylindrical dry ice (solid carbon) blocks and threading them on the body of a torpedo with a solid nose and tail fin section – then keeping this in cold storage until it could be taken to a deep ocean site and dropped, where it would quickly be surrounded by high pressures which would prevent the sublimation of the dry ice.
