A main aspect of the effort to offset the negative environmental impact of the 2011 Super Bowl is an event called “Super Grow XLV”. The event aims to plant over 6500 trees in cities around Dallas, in order to balance the carbon output of the sporting event. The trees are to be planted on public land, and much of the labor for the planting is coming from local students, from elementary to university level.
“Just Energy has committed to offset all direct and indirect carbon emissions associated with power generation at major Super Bowl XLV venues.”
Just Energy plans to produce one megawatt of renewable energy for every megawatt used by the Super Bowl event locations.
