The rainiest U.S. states are Louisiana with about 59.74 inches of rain per year, Alabama with 56.90 inches, and Alaska with 53.15 (though much of that falls as snow). Mississippi is close with 52.72. Surprisingly, Oregon and Washington, both thought of as among the “rainiest” states, rank considerably lower.
Hawaii gets the highest annual rain fall per year and has the second highest average annual rainfall on Earth, with 460 inches (12,000 mm).
