The Great Basin Desert (one of the USA’s four desert regions) covers virtually all of Nevada, which certainly makes it look like the state with the greatest percentage of desert. The closest figure I could find is that because of Nevada’s arid climate, only 6% of its 100,000 square miles is cultivated land.
