The highest concentrations of tornadoes are in Oklahoma, Texas, and Florida. The state with the highest total amount of tornadoes is Texas.
Texas averages the most tornadoes per year at an average of about 126. Second is Oklahoma at 52, though the higher number in Texas is mainly due to the state’s large size. Oklahoma has the most per square mile.
The most tornadoes occur between the Rocky and Appalachian Mountains in an area called Tornado Alley. The state most effected by tornadoes is Oklahoma because it has the most frequent and most intense storms. Florida has the highest density of tornadoes, but they are short-lived and weak for the most part.
