Texas has the largest production of wind power – 8,797 MW, with another 660 MW under construction. The closest competitors include Iowa (3,053 MW), California (2,787 MW), Minnesota (1,805 MW), Oregon, Washington, New York, Colorado, Illinois, and Kansas (the rest have under 1,000 MW). It should be noted though, that that many of these states are very large, both by area and population, so a more interesting question might be “which state has the highest per capita and/or per area production”.
