I was not able to find which state has the most landfills, but the following is a list of the largest landfills in the United States based on the tons of garbage they receive each day.

    1. Roosevelt Regional Landfill (Washington)
    2. Denver Arapahoe Disposal Site (Colorado)
    3. Columbia Ridge Landfill (Oregon)
    4. Pine Tree Acres (Michigan)
    5. Atlantic Waste Disposal (Virginia)
    6. El Sobrante Landfill and Recycling Center (California)
    7. McCarty Road Landfill (Texas)
    8. Sunshine Canyon Landfill (California)
    9. Newton County Landfill & Apex Waste Center (Indiana)

As of 2005, Texas had the most landfills.  They had 186 active landfills at that point in time, due to Texans disposing approximately 30 million tons of solid waste per year.  The runner up would be California, which had 161 landfills.  The United States, as a whole, produced about 245 million tons of solid waste in 2005.
