California grows more almonds than anywhere else in the world.
California is the state that produces the most almonds, and more specifically northern California. This production boomed in the 1960’s, when the region went from producing roughly 20 percent of the world’s almonds to its current 70 percent. Chico, CA, is famous for its almonds, in an area an hour north of the state’s capital, Sacramento.
