They’re replacing lightbulbs in their stores with LEDs, which use less energy; several of their existing stores and all their new company-owned stores will be LEED certified. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Standards, and (voluntarily) participating buildings are rated on several factors of eco-friendliness: sustainability of site, indoor environmental quality, innovation and design, water efficiency, building materials and resources, and use of energy and effect on the atmosphere.
