There are a variety of chemicals used to kill spiders. Some include cypermethrin, cyfluthrin, bifenthrin, deltamethrin and lambda cyhalothrin. Most of these chemicals are nervous system disruptors. Cypermethrin, for example, causes convulsions and prohibits calcium uptake by nerves and cellular energy production. The spider is killed because of its inability to respirate. Some other sprays contain ingredients that destroy the spider’s exoskeleton.
