As for health., you can take your pick of thousands of studies. Either no help whatever, or a cure-all, or just about anywhere between.

Camellia sinensis is the species of plant whose leaves and leaf buds are used to produce green tea along with white tea, black tea, oolong and pu-erh tea.

Green tea has catechin polyphenols, specifically epigallecatechin gallate (EGCG), which makes it a powerful antioxidant that has been purported to fight cancer and other free radical forming diseases in the body, such as, blood clots, atherosclerosis and heart disease.  Research has also found that green tea lowers total cholesterol levels and also helps fight rheumatoid arthritis, infection and impaired immune function.
