Many believe the blue-fin tuna is the most threatened. Due to industrial fishing practices, the population of the blue-fin has decreased 92% since the 1950s. Japan in particular, consumes a vast amount of blue fin tuna in sushi and it’s had a massive affect on the species. It is classified as a critically endangered species, which is one of the more grave classifications by the IUCN. Their is now a Commission for the Conservation of Southern Blue-fin Tuna, which has the world lowering much of their fishing practices, including Japan halving their fishing of the blue-fin.
