What is the Solutrean cultural stage?

The Solutrean period was a stage in prehistory (though I hate to use the term “prehistoric,” as it suggests “before things were worth recording”). Specifically, the Solutrean culture existed during the Upper Paleolithic era between roughly 19,000-15,000 BCE. They were a stone tool-using people., and their cultural period gave us some of the first and most magnificent cave paintings in France and Spain:the world-renowned Lascaux Caves,  caves at Font de Gaume, and Spain’s Cantabrian Cave of La Pasiega.
