What is a solar thermal plant?

Solar thermal is a clean energy technology that produces no carbon emissions. Solar thermal plants function well in the desert, where there are high amounts of sunlight year-round and beneficial reflective qualities. Numerous mirrors or lenses are installed – in parabolic trough, single tower, or dish system arrangements – and the concentrated heat can be stored or used immediately for electricity. Currently, a solar power plant is being built in the Mojave Desert of California.
