Solar power towers are heat-tracking mirrors that help direct sunlight to solar panels. Check out this site showing the details on how they work.
Solar power tower is a type of solar furnace and uses large sun-tracking mirrors, called heliostats. The suns energy, concentrates at the tower in the middle, and produces temperatures of approx. 550°C to 1500°C (1022-2732 F). The thermal energy gained is used to heat water, saving energy for later use.
