What is so bad about monosodium glutamate?

In some people it can cause an allergic reaction, in which they experience nausea, headaches, and sometimes other symptoms as well. In general, MSG is fine and there’s only a small percentage of people who can’t eat it, but because of them, the FDA made a law that you have to have MSG on the label if it in your food.

MSG can trigger horrible headaches and nausea for some people. This is typically when MSG is used in excess, providing a very favorful taste to many meals. However, having gotten horrible headaches from MSG, I understand why the FDA has put restrictions on its use in the US. No one should have to get sick from something they eat!
