A smart grid is a modernized electricity network of sorts. It delivers electricity from suppliers directly to consumers using digital technology to save energy and reduce costs for consumers. The smart grid is meant to help electricity companies know how much and when consumers are using their appliances and the most electricity, and to try and help them cut back by increased price incentives.
