Although the Atlantic Stingrays are a small species, according to the Florida Museum of Natural History, the smallest stingray species is the Short-Nose Electric Ray of the genus Narcine. These stingrays grow to 4 inches across and weigh about 1 pound. The Short-Nose Electric Ray is often described as being the size of a pancake.
