    The smallest species of hawk is the sparrow hawk. It weighs about 2.6 to 3.7 ounces. They live 4 to 10 years and eat small birds, mammals, and insects. They are located in woods and forest habitats, mainly throughout Eastern and Central Africa. There are about 49 different species of the sparrow hawk.

    The official name of the species is the Little Sparrowhawk, or Accipiter minullus. The length of this hawk is 9 inches.
