Viruses are the smallest organisms in the oceans. Also, they are the smallest on land. They cause diseases in different organisms.
Not all scientists consider viruses as “organisms” as they are DNA or RNA with only a protein shell and when dormant no biological activities occur. The smallest living organism are unicellular bacteria and the smallest animal in the ocean are various species of zooplankton.
