Coming in at a whopping 7.9mm, the Paedocypris progenetica is the smallest fish on record. It is considered to be part of the carp family. This fish, despite its small size, is puzzling to scientists because it lives in very acidic swamp waters. Waters that are more than 100 times more acidic than acid rain.
The world’s smallest fish is Paedocypris progenetica, a 7.9 mm long fish found in the swamps of Sumatra that is related to the carp.
My guess would be minnows, as I fish often and have never seen a fish smaller than a minnow.
