The smallest species of cat in the world is the rusty spotted cat.  It’s a wildcat that can weigh anywhere from 1.76-3.53 lbs.

The smallest domestic breed of cat (although not necessarily in the smallest individual cat. These are just smallest breed-wide) is the Singapura. Females weigh 5-6 pounds, and males weigh 6-8 pounds. They were developed my American expats in Singapore in the late 1970’s.
