Slow food is a movement to combat the fast food industry. It has a number of objectives, such as educating of the risks of fast food, organizing small scale processing to lower environmental impact, encouraging local stores to sell local food, lobbying against the use of pesticides and so on. It was founded by italian Carlo Petrini in 1986 and currently has a membership of 100000. Their motto is Good, Clean and Fair.
