Here is a simple explanation. Electric cars run on electricity, or a charge, and the battery that is attached to the vehicle is plugged in before it can be used so that the battery may fully charge. Charging the battery will depend on how low the battery charge is and also on the charging voltage that is used. Normally the charge can take anywhere from three to eight hours. Once the battery has been charged fully the car can run for anywhere between 60 to 200 hours before it needs to be recharged.
