What should environmentalists do if they want to take a vacation?

They should look locally at first to see if there are local areas or regions they want to explore that they haven’t yet seen. If they plan on going abroad or across the country, they should look into carbon offsets for flying or driving (Such programs—like TerraPass—usually support planting trees or developing other projects to reduce carbon pollution).

If going abroad, look into supporting ecotourism and locally based companies rather than large, international companies, which don’t put money back into the local economy.

It is important to fully research the area where you would like to visit to find places that are working to conserve the environment and encourage green living. You may want to look for an organizing working in the area you hope to visit. Then you could volunteer with them for a period of time and know you are making a positive difference for the environment.
