Off-shoring of carbon pollution is the practice of shipping coal and other fossil fuels overseas so that countries like China may use them. The technique of ridding the US of pollution only to have it pollute another country is viewed as hypocrisy. Why should the states advertise environmentalism and close down some of its coal mines only to aid in the pollution of China? It has been argued that it creates jobs within the states, but coal production negatively impacts the environment from mining to consumption.
