In mineralogy, the shine of a mineral is referred to as luster, defined as the way light interacts with the mineral’s surface. The gem-like minerals which possess a high luster are referred to as adamantine minerals. These are transparent, extremely shiny, and have a high refractive index. These include the diamond, cerussite, and zircon.
