There are three different types of recycling. Secondary recycling is recycling a product into another different end product. Primary recycling is recycling a product and putting it into the same product, and tertiary recycling is recycling a product by breaking it down into its initial components.
Secondary recycling uses reclaimed materials as a source for a new product.
In addition to the three types of recycling mentioned by jgvp1988, there is another type, Quarternary in which energy is derived from waste products.
