Biology is the study of life and living organisms including their structure, growth, function, origin, evolution and distribution. It includes botany, and zoology and all of their subdivisions (dictionary definition). The word comes from the Greek prefix “bio” meaning life or living and the suffix “logy” meaning discourse, theory or study. Hence, a biologist is one who studies life.
