What is the safest place in your home during an earthquake?

It is widely contended that you should take cover under a table or other piece of furniture, however it is actually best to lay down in the fetal position and make yourself as small as possible, for if the table collapses due to falling debris, you will not be stuck or crushed. Many have also heard it is safe to get under a doorway, and this is true, however only in older houses. Doorways in newer homes provide no additional support. If in a two story house, go upstairs so that the top floor does not collapse on the bottom floor with you in it!
