Royal jelly is a series of compounds secreted by young workers in a honeybee colony to nourish the larvae. Additionally, if a new queen is needed, a select few will receive large quantities of royal jelly as their only food source. This royal jelly blocks the pathway that prevents full development of the larvae, allowing them to develop into potential queens.
Royal jelly is a substance secreted from the glands of worker bees and fed to larva. It is all the queen bees ever eat. Since queen bees are bigger and more fertile than other bees, some people believe that it can offer humans these effects too. However, these claims have not been proven.
