Though it doesn’t consistently raise to it’s maximum height, the Qiantang River in China has the world’s largest known tidal bore, at 30ft tall. A tidal bore is a type of tidal wave that forms when there is a large, open bay funneling into a tight river way. The wave starts short and long, but builds up power as it is channeled smaller and taller. In Qiantang the tidal bore can move up to 25mph.
