I couldn’t find a definitive answer to this question and it’s not from lack of trying. I just don’t think such statistics are compiled. My educated guess as to the restaurant with the most stoves would probably be the largest restaurant in the United States, on the assumption that the restaurant with the most seating capacity would have the largest demand for food at any one time, and hence need the most facilities. Strangely I couldn’t find a reliable statistic on this either. I can tell you what was the largest restaurant in the United States at one time: Lundy’s, a seafood restaurant in Brooklyn, New York, which at one time had a seating capacity of 2800. Lundy’s went through several incarnations over the years and closed in 2007. What replaced it? I can’t tell for sure. The Oasis Restaurant on Lake Travis in Austin, Texas claims to be the fourth largest restaurant in the US, and Zehnder’s, a Bavarian restaurant in Frankenmuth, Michigan, claims to be the eighth, with a seating capacity of over 2,000. This suggests that there is a ranking somewhere, done by somebody, but I haven’t been able to find it. If any other Greenanswers contributor wants to delve into this question and try to succeed where I’ve failed, I welcome the contribution.
