I think food resources are severely used by Americans. There are parts of the world that don’t have enough food to feed the population but we dwarf those numbers with the amount of food we produce and eat in the United States. We have developed a food system that has food that’s cheap on price as well as cheap on nutritional value. People eat more as a result and their filling themselves with nutritionally sparse food and it results in gross overproduction of meat and feed for the animals, which has a straining effect on the environment. If we could rein in the amount that we eat and make our choices more responsibly, it would improve the environment as well as lessen our health care costs and make our overall quality of life better.
