Renewable diesel is “a broad class of fuels derived from biomass feed stocks including oils or animal fats but processed by other means.” The most advanced renewable diesel is produced from hydrotreating, which can be done in petroleum refineries. This process results in reduced waste and by-products, higher energy density, and improved cold flow properties.
