According to their website, they seem more focused right now on using corn or straw. They have had plans to produce a facility in Hawaii to investigate algae fuel since 2007, but so far it still seems to be simply a plan. They are also working on finding the best strain of algae for this use, and the best way to grow and harvest algae on a large scale. But in small-scale use and publicity stunts, oil from algae has been proven to work, growing quickly and in a variety of conditions including seawater puddles.
