In October of 2010, GE announced a thermal breakthrough with LED lighting: a LED bulb that uses jet engine technology to cool. This breakthrough helps with efficiency; the cooler LEDs are the more efficient they are.
In October 2010, General Electric announced a high-efficiency LED lightbulb that utilizes jet-engine technology to cool down. LEDs are sensitive to heat because they produce light through the movemenet of electrons, so LED use has not been widespread. By inventing a lightbulb that can cool down, GE hopes to encourage use of LED technology.
