According to treehugger.com, one of the rarest (if not THE rarest) flowers in the world is the Middlemist’s Red.  It survives in only two locations: a greenhouse in the UK and a garden in New Zealand.

The rarest flower in the world is probably one of the many species that is already thought to be extinct. Take for example England’s ghost orchid, which was last spotted in 1987, particularly haunting because of the name, and the fact that, (in the attached link), you can see gorgeous photos of a species that may have vanished from this earth more than 20 years ago.

Thousands of plant species have already been declared extinct, and it’s likely in a few cases one or a few individuals remain. The odds that a human being would actually see the LAST individual of a dying species are exceedingly rare, and even if someone was there to see it, the odds they would have the training to recognize the significance of what they were seeing is even lower.
